Maha Ghobrial
Maha taught painting and mixed media for many years, until she "stumbled" into jewellery making by chance late in 1997 while attending a craft show, coming across this "cool" new product called Silver Clay. From that very first "make it & take it" half hour introduction workshop she was hooked, attending every possible class & workshop going before attendeding one of the very first metal clay certification classes in Australia in 2002, and completing a Advanced Diploma in Engineering-Jewellery @ NMIT 2011
Maha continued to learn all aspects of jewellery from National & international renowned Australian and international artists, with the skills learnt in traditional metal smithing along with metal clay, glass, acrylic, resin and enamels has given Maha great flexibility when creating her jewellery and these are the skills that she is able to pass on to her students.
Maha teaches regular metal clay classes and other sorts of jewellery making @ her studio in Melbourne south eastern suburbs. Maha exhibited her work @ Flinder's Gallery and in 2009 she was invited to exhibit at the prestigious "For the Love of Egypt Festival".
Maha is a member of the PMC Guild and a founding member of the Melbourne Chapter. She is also a very proud member of "The Chain Gang", a group born around the jewellery benches in Maggie's studio and now a successful group of four jewellery artists running a joint jewellery business.
